"Then people will come from east and west, north and south, and will eat in the Kingdom of God..."

Blessed Lord's Day!

Recently, Ralph Martin published a book with a variation of the question put to Jesus in today's gospel, "Will Many Be Saved: What Vatican II Actually Teaches and Its Implications for the New Evangelization" (Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 2012). It studies No. 16 of Lumen Gentium, the dogmatic constitution on the Church and the implied conclusion that non-Catholics can be saved without coming to explicit faith in Christ and membership in the Catholic Church. An interesting thesis and read.

O God, who cause the minds of the faithful to unite in a single purpose, grant your people to love what you command and to desire what you promise, that, amid the uncertainties of this world, our hearts may be fixed on that place where true gladness is found. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
